Delaware Clean Vehicle Program and the IRS Rebate Program
We have created a flow chart to try to help customers understand what vehicles qualify for both the Delaware Clean Vehicle Program, and the IRS’s program. Ford Clean Vehicle Tax Incentive for Delaware and the IRS
New Vehicle Eligibility:
Step 1: Is the vehicle the Ford F-150 Lightning with an MSRP under $80,000?
If yes → Go to Step 2
If no → Vehicle does not qualify for the Federal Clean Vehicle Credit.
Step 2: Do you meet the income limits for the Federal Clean Vehicle Credit?
Income limits for eligibility:
Single: $150,000 or less
Heads of household: $225,000 or less
Married filing jointly: $300,000 or less
If yes → Eligible for Federal Clean Vehicle Credit for the F-150 Lightning
If no → Vehicle does not qualify for the Federal Clean Vehicle Credit.
Note:
The 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E qualifies for $1,500 under the Delaware Clean Rebate Program.
The Ford F-150 Lightning does not qualify for the Delaware Clean Rebate Program.
Used Vehicle Eligibility:
Step 1: Is the vehicle fully electric or a Plug-in Hybrid?
If fully electric → Go to Step 2
If Plug-in Hybrid → Go to Step 3
If neither → Vehicle does not qualify for the Federal Clean Vehicle Credit.
Step 2: Is the fully electric vehicle model year no older than 8 years from the current model year?
If yes → Go to Step 4
If no → Vehicle does not qualify for the Federal Clean Vehicle Credit.
Step 3: Is the Plug-in Hybrid vehicle model year no older than 8 years from the current model year?
If yes → Go to Step 4
If no → Vehicle does not qualify for the Federal Clean Vehicle Credit.
Step 4: Does the sale price of the used vehicle fall under $25,000?
If yes → Go to Step 5
If no → Vehicle does not qualify for the Federal Clean Vehicle Credit.
Step 5: Do you meet the income limits?
Income limits for eligibility:
Single: $50,000 or less
Heads of household: $75,000 or less
Married filing jointly: $100,000 or less
If yes → Eligible for Federal Clean Vehicle Credit based on battery size
If no → Vehicle does not qualify for the Federal Clean Vehicle Credit.
Used Electric Vehicle Eligibility Under the Delaware Clean Rebate Program:
Step 1: Is the vehicle fully electric or a Plug-in Hybrid?
If fully electric → Go to Step 2
If Plug-in Hybrid → Go to Step 3
If neither → Vehicle does not qualify for the Delaware Clean Rebate Program.
Step 2: Is the fully electric vehicle model year no older than 8 years from the current model year?
If yes → Go to Step 4
If no → Vehicle does not qualify for the Delaware Clean Rebate Program.
Step 3: Is the Plug-in Hybrid vehicle model year no older than 8 years from the current model year?
If yes → Go to Step 4
If no → Vehicle does not qualify for the Delaware Clean Rebate Program.
Step 4: Does the fair market purchase price of the used vehicle fall under $40,000?
If yes → Eligible for $2,500 rebate for Used Battery Electric Vehicles.
If no → Go to Step 5
Step 5: Is the vehicle a Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle with a fair market purchase price under $40,000?
If yes → Eligible for $1,000 rebate for Used Plug-in Hybrid Vehicles.
If no → Vehicle does not qualify for the Delaware Clean Rebate Program.
Additional Information:
Credit Amount for Used Vehicles:
Used Battery Electric Vehicle: $2,500 rebate for fair market purchase price of $40,000 or less.
Used Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle: $1,000 rebate for fair market purchase price of $40,000 or less.
Delaware Clean Rebate Program:
Check the official Delaware Clean Vehicle Rebate website for current eligibility and rebate amounts for specific Ford models.
