Power

Test drive the Expedition at Sheridan Ford today to feel how well it handles and the power it puts out. The Expedition’s 10-speed automatic transmission come standard, while the Sequoia comes standard with a 6-speed transmission. The 3.5L EcoBoost® engine delivers 375 hp1 at 5,000 rpm and 470 lb.-ft. of torque @ 3,500 rpm. The Sequoia puts out 401 lb.-ft. of torque @ 3,600 rpm. The higher torque in the Expedition allows it to distribute power to its wheels more effectively.

Capability

The Expedition moves much more quickly and efficiently than the Sequoia, as it has a lower curb weight. Additionally, the Expedition has a higher gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR), so you can bring more with you for different trips.

The Expedition can also tow more than the Sequoia (9,300 lbs. vs. 8,500 lbs.). Confidently bring a boat or a pop-up RV for a weekend away. Pro Trailer Backup Assist™2,3 (not available in the Sequoia) helps you guide whatever you’re towing where it needs to be.

If you’ve misplaced your keys in your bag or accidentally locked them in your Expedition, there is an exterior key pad entry available. This feature comes in handy, especially in inclement weather. Additionally, on cold days, warm up with the heated steering wheel. Neither of these features are available in the Sequoia.

Drive with more confidence, getting the extra help you need, with these features3:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • BLIS (Blind Spot Information System)
  • Pre-Collision Assist
  • Lane-Keeping System
  • Active Park Assist (Guides you into a parallel parking space—Not available in the 2018 Sequoia)

Technology

The Sequoia does not feature SYNC® 32,4, which allows you to use voice-activated technology to make phone calls, get directions and change what you listen to as you drive.

Use the FordPass™ Smartphone Application5 as a personal assistant. If you have questions, you can get the answers through the app from trained Ford guides. Compare fuel prices, find convenient parking and schedule service when needed, all in the palm of your hand. Link the app with SYNC Connect6, so you can keep tabs on fuel levels and remotely lock/unlock the doors and start/stop your engine. With SYNC Connect you can make your Expedition a Wi-Fi hotspot, allowing up to 10 people to connect.

In the event of an emergency, SYNC Connect uses a GPS response system that connects you to help if a crash is detected. Even if you are incapacitated, help will still be on the way. The Sequoia does not use a system like this, so help will not be immediately contacted.
