Vehicle Review: 2018 Ford Fusion
2018 Ford Fusion Review
The 2018 Ford Fusion is the premier mid-sized sedan. Upon first glance, you can see that the new Fusion stands out with its revamped grille to its LED tail-lamps. Its design, inside and out, gives it the look and feel of a luxury vehicle with all the same sophistication at an affordable price.
If you’re environmentally conscious, you have the option of a hybrid or a plug-in hybrid.
Once you decide on a Fusion, the fun begins. It is fully customizable to your liking, with five sophisticated models and three power sources to choose from:
- Gas: All models (S, SE, Platinum, Titanium and Sport) available if you decide on gas-powered
- Hybrid: S, SE, Platinum, Titanium available if you decide on Hybrid.
- Plug-In Hybrid: SE, Platinum and Titanium available if you decide on Plug-In Hybrid.

Ford’s EcoBoost® engines are designed to optimize both power and efficiency and maximize fuel economy by combining three technologies – turbocharging, direct injection and twin independent variable cam timing (Ti-VCT). The Fusion offers various EcoBoost® options:
- 5L with standard Auto Start-Stop Technology
- 7L V6 (for the V6 Sport)
Additionally, the Fusion Hybrid features a 2.0L Atkinson-cycle gas engine and electric motor that can work together, or separately.
Equipped with technologies that adjust aspects such as suspension tuning, a stabilizing bar to reduce road noise and electric power-assisted steering (EPAS), you will notice a smooth drive no matter the road conditions. Available in the SE, Platinum, Titanium and Sport; intelligent all-wheel drive (AWD)* monitors traction as you drive, transferring power to the front or rear wheels as needed to further improve handling.
Choosing the next song to play or next podcast to listen to while driving is common among drivers. Doing it hands-free isn’t always an option but with SYNC® 3, responsive voice-activated technology makes it an option. Get directions to your next destination and make phone calls — all without taking your hands off the wheel. The FordPass™ application for your smartphone makes life a little easier: compare gas prices, find parking, schedule service.
While it is important to remember to pay attention while driving and not depend on driver assist technologies, they certainly help. The Fusion comes equipped with:
- Park Assist (finding and guiding you as you parallel park)
- BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System)
- Lane-Keeping System
- Standard Rearview Camera
- Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection
The 2018 Ford Fusion is designed with the driver in mind, offering efficient power, comfort and a seamless drive. Go see Joe at Sheridan Ford in Wilmington, DE to see how well the Fusion performs when you schedule a test drive.
