Performance and Capability

Check out the engine options in the 2019 Ford Explorer engines, which offer impressive and noticeable power and efficiency.  Two of Ford’s EcoBoost® engines are available among the trim models: a 3.5-L Ti-VCT V6 engine, a 2.3-L EcoBoost® engine and a 3.5-L EcoBoost® engine.

Choose either Front-Wheel Drive capability or  4-Wheel Drive capability. If you need off-road capability or want to be able to easily drive in the snow, you may want to choose a 4WD option. Intelligent 4-Wheel Drive monitors the road constantly and engages automatically for you to maintain traction. The Terrain Management System includes settings for Normal, Mud/Rut, Sand and Snow/Gravel/Grass, so you can choose the setting you need.

The 2019 Ford Explorer also has two available tow packages: Class II Trailer Tow Package and Class III Trailer Tow Package. Class II requires 4WD and the 2.3-L EcoBoost® and has a maximum towing capacity of 3,000 lbs. Class III requires 4WD and the 3.5-L EcoBoost® and has a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 lbs.

Other Features

Use the Foot-Activated Liftgate to easily load your 2019 Ford Explorer. By placing your foot under the rear of the Explorer, the rear liftgate swings open on its own so you can easily place all your groceries, shopping bags, cargo or anything else that you need to put down in the rear of the car.

The 2019 Explorer features an exterior keypad that allows you to enter the Ford SUV without your key fob, which comes in handy in the event you accidentally lock your keys in the car.
