Performance and Capability

The 2019 Ford Explorer engines offer impressive power and efficiency.  Two of  Ford’s EcoBoost® engines are available among the trim models: a 3.5-L Ti-VCT V6 engine, a 2.3-L EcoBoost® engine and a 3.5-L EcoBoost® engine. The 2019 Explorer comes available with Front-Wheel Drive capability or  4-Wheel Drive capability, depending how much off-road capability you need, you may want to choose a 4WD option. Intelligent 4-Wheel Drive monitors the road constantly and engages automatically for you to maintain traction. The Terrain Management System includes settings for Normal, Mud/Rut, Sand and Snow/Gravel/Grass, so you can choose the setting you need.

The 2019 Ford Explorer also has two available tow packages: Class II Trailer Tow Package and Class III Trailer Tow Package. Class II requires 4WD and the 2.3-L EcoBoost® and has a maximum towing capacity of 3,000 lbs. Class III requires 4WD and the 3.5-L EcoBoost® and has a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 lbs.

Make less stops at the gas station with impressive fuel economy and a gas tank that can hold up to 18.6 gallons, which gives you longer range.

Technology

Other Features


The 2019 Explorer features an exterior keypad that allows you to enter the Ford SUV without your key fob, which comes in handy in the event you accidentally lock your keys in the car.

Place your foot beneath the rear of the car to activate the Foot-Activated Liftgate. The rear liftgate opens on its own so you can easily place all your groceries, shopping bags, cargo or anything else that you need to put down in the rear of the car.
