5 Questions to Ask Yourself Before Leasing or Buying

October 31st, 2018 by

Leasing or purchasing a new car generally is not like a trip to the mall or grocery store. A new car (whether brand new or new to you) is a substantial investment of both time (research) and money. You’ll ask yourself various questions about the type of car you’d like and what you’re willing to spend. At Sheridan Ford, there are a few questions we find imperative you ask yourself as you begin your Ford search.

What is my budget?

This question seems like a no brainer, but it is very important to consider. You’ll want to ask yourself what your overall budget is, and what you want to pay each month for your car payment. Consider the monthly expenses you have currently while determining the monthly spend to allocate towards a car. Furthermore, consider maintenance costs, fuel prices and insurance in conjunction to what you’ll spend on a new Ford at Sheridan Ford.

Consider leasing at Sheridan Ford if your budget requires a lower monthly payment.

What are my wants and needs?

Determine what aspects you absolutely need in your new Ford. Do you have a large family and need that third row? Consider a Ford Explorer and Ford Expedition. Are you looking for a comfortable sedan with great gas mileage? Consider the Ford Fusion. You may need the ability to tow for work purposes. Once you determine your needs, then you can decide the extras you want to make your driving experience more enjoyable, like heated seats or a DVD player in the headrests. Taking time to list your needs and wants will help narrow down your car search.

How often will I drive the car?

The more often you drive your car, say for a longer commute or frequent weekend getaways, you may want to consider a car with excellent fuel economy. If you drive less often, you may be able to get good mileage out of a truck or SUV. Today’s SUV’s have been engineered to perform better in terms of fuel economy, so if you find you’d like a Ford Edge, Ford Escape or Ford EcoSport and have a shorter commute, one of these crossover SUVs might be the most suitable for your driving needs.

What fees are included in my finance plan?

You’ll see the price of the car on the window, but there are other fees to consider when buying a car, and you should be aware and anticipate fees like taxes, documentation fees and registration fees. Speak with a dealer at Sheridan Ford to ensure you get the best deal when you buy from us!

What is my credit score?

Your credit score will ultimately affect how much you pay for the car when all is said and done. Your credit score will determine your monthly interest rate. The better your credit score, the lower interest rate you can negotiate. Talk to a trusted financial advisor to determine ways you can increase your credit score.
