Thank you for visiting Sheridan Ford! We are your top Ford dealership in Wilmington, DE! We are eager to work with you to find the right vehicle that fits your lifestyle needs and budget.
You are likely researching your options in order to make an informed decision before buying or leasing a new truck. If you are deciding between a 2018 Ford F-250 Super Duty and Ram 2500, we’d like to highlight a few features of the Ford truck and invite you to take a test drive at Sheridan Ford. The Ram 2500 may come at a slightly more affordable price (starting at $32,645 compared to Ford’s $33,150), but you’ll soon see the Super Duty is worth it.
Performance
The Super Duty comes available with two engine options, both paired with a TorqShift® 6-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission with tow/haul mode:
- 2-L V8 gas engine that delivers 385 HP and 430 lb.-ft. of torque.
- 7-L Power Stroke®V8 turbodiesel engine that delivers 450 HP and 935 lb.-ft. of torque.
The Ram 2500’s base gas engine is a 5.7-L V8 that delivers 383 HP and 400 lb.-ft. of torque. It also has an available 6.7-L Cummins® turbodiesel engine that delivers 370 HP and 800 lb.-ft. of torque. As you can see, both gas engines are comparable, but the Ford’s diesel engine (you may lean towards a diesel engine if you need this truck for more work than play) is much more powerful.
Furthermore, where using this truck for jobs that require large hauls is concerned, the Ford Super Duty gives the Ram 2500 a run for its money. The F-250 Super Duty can tow1 a maximum of 21,000 lbs., while the Ram can only tow a maximum of 17,980 lbs. The Ford has a higher payload as well (4,250 lbs. vs. 3,890 lbs.). As you can see, the 2018 Super Duty is built stronger and much more capable.
The Ford truck also has fuel capacity of 48 gallons, while the Ram truck has a fuel capacity of 31 gallons, which will give you better range and fuel economy with the Super Duty.
Technology
The new Super Duty is equipped with optimized technology made for Ford vehicles. You won’t find these in the Ram 2500. SYNC® technology is standard in the F-250 and uses voice-responsive technology. As you move up in the model levels, SYNC® 32, also voice-responsive, comes standard. SYNC® 3 is compatible with Apple CarPlay™ and and Android Auto™, and allows you to answer and make phone calls, reply to messages and switch between music (or audiobooks and podcasts) all with the sound of your voice. You won’t be distracted or look away from the road.
Using the navigation system, you can see the map (while getting turn-by-turn audible directions) to your next destination on the 8-inch LCD touchscreen display. If you are driving between jobs in unfamiliar territory, you have everything conveniently mapped out for you.
