October 31st, 2018 by

If you’re a fan of Fords and more specifically Ford SUVs, then Ford’s announcement to focus on SUVs by 2020 may excite you. In 2020, you’ll see a lot more SUVs on Sheridan Ford’s lot.

Ford announced earlier this year that come 2020, there model lineup will look a lot different, largely due to the rising popularity of SUVs and trucks. By 2020, the only sedans Ford will offer are the Ford Mustang and upcoming Ford Focus Active, Ford will introduce four new SUVs and trucks. Additionally, Ford has responded to the push for hybrid-electric vehicles to offer new features and abilities on models like the Ford F-150, Ford Mustang, Ford Explorer, Ford Escape and long-awaited return of the Ford Bronco. By 2022, Ford will offer six battery electric vehicles (BEVs).

By 2020, Ford will offer eight SUVs in their model lineup. This begs the question why Ford is doing away with sedans. The popularity of SUVs has risen significantly in recent years. Ford estimates that by 2020, SUV sales will make up 50% of automotive sales across the board.

SUVs are open to versatility. They provide lots of room for the growing family while also providing lots of fun for those looking to get off the road.

Ford will offer eight SUVs come 2020, leading the industry. Five of these models will offer hybrid powertrains and one battery electric. In addition to the rising popularity of SUVs, offering hybrid options and a BEV option, Ford is taking note of the need for energy efficient cars and their positive effect on the environment.

Some states, like Delaware, offer rebates for drivers who choose hybrid and/or electric vehicles through the Delaware Clean Vehicle Rebate Program administered by the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC). Sheridan Ford is one of the Ford dealers that participates in Delaware’s program. Stay tuned for updates about new Ford SUVS and the return of the Ford Bronco to come to Sheridan Ford by 2020.
