Sheridan Showdown: 2018 Ford Transit Connect vs. Ram ProMaster City
Welcome to Sheridan Ford! Located on Kirkwood Highway, we are your premier Ford dealership serving the Wilmington and Newark area! Should you have any questions about any of the vehicles on our lot, we’d be more than happy to provide you with the answers!
Are you in need of a cargo van? Are you deciding between the 2018 Ford Transit Connect and the 2018 Ram ProMaster City? Let us help you make the decision to choose Transit Connect. It’s versatile, spacious and even lets you let the light in with an available panoramic glass sunroof (not available in the ProMaster City).
Cargo
Naturally, cargo space and capabilities are a big selling point if you’re in need of this type of vehicle. Maybe you run a business, like a flower delivery service or a catering service. Maybe you’re an electrician and have various tools. You need the right amount of space for all your deliveries and to keep your cargo and supplies intact.
In the Ford Transit Connect, depending on whether you go for the short-or long-wheelbase, you have seating for five to seven people. The Ram ProMaster City can only accommodate seating for five. With the second and third rows folded flat, however, you have opened a lot of space. You can also split-fold the seats if you need a little more passenger space.
If you need to fill every seat, you have 19.8 cu.ft.3 of cargo space behind the third row. Short-wheel base models can transport items that are 49” tall. With the third row folded, you expand to 46.9 cu. ft of space, and 77 cu.ft. with the second and third rows folded. If you opt for the long-wheel base model, you have up to 104.2 cu.ft. of cargo space that can be up to 76.7” long. The Transit Connect Van was made to be versatile; visit us at Sheridan Ford to learn more about your cargo options.
Comfort
The seats in the third row can be adjusted for your passengers who want to stretch out a little. The Transit Connect Van offers more room for the passengers than the ProMaster City does.
- Front Head Room: 46.8 inches
- Front Leg Room: 41.5 inches
- Front Shoulder Room: 57.7 inches

Technology
No driving experience is complete without the technological features within the vehicle. With available SYNC®3 technology, you are put in total control. Answer phone calls, reply to text messages and switch between your personal music library and the radio all with the sound of your voice. You can also use the navigation system to get to your next destination without issue. View the map on the 8-inch LCD display while the GPS gives you audible directions.
You will not find SYNC®3 in the Ram ProMaster City.
Additionally, the following features (not available in the Ram) are available to help you drive with better precision and more confidence:
- BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with cross-traffic alert
- MyKey® (Allows you to set speed restrictions, volume restrictions and more to avoid distractions as a driver)
