Performance and Capability
Each 2018 Expedition comes standard with a 10-speed automatic transmission. It is also equipped with a 3.5-L EcoBoost® engine that delivers an impressive 375 hp and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. This amount of torque allows for a more effective distribution of power to the wheels.
Tow up to 9,300 lbs. with confidence if you choose the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package. This SUV is designed for the family that takes on weekend excursions. With towing capacity like this, go for the bigger boat or pop-up RV to enjoy a weekend on the water or camping trip. The available Pro Trailer Backup Assist™1,2 helps you see the trailer as you reverse so you can easily steer it. AdvancTrac® with RSC® (Roll Stability Control™) work with the Expedition’s trailer sway control by engaging the brakes to keep both the SUV and attached trailer firmly planted on the road.
There is also the option for Curve Control3, which will help you slow down if you’re going to fast as you drive around a corner.
For the more adventurous types, choose the available FX4 Off-Road Package. Take on any terrain with 4-Wheel Drive and 7 drive modes to adapt to the road you’re on.
Additionally, these driver-assist features give you backup when you need it:
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- BLIS (Blind Spot Information System)
- Pre-Collision Assist
- Lane-Keeping System
- Active Park Assist
Ford’s SYNC®3 comes standard on the 2018 Expedition. Depending on the trim you select, you will have either a 4.2” or 8” LCD touch screen display to display everything on your phone. While driving, with the use of voice-activated technology, you can make phone calls, respond to texts or emails and change songs without taking your eyes off the road or the wheel.
Keep tabs on your SUV when you’re not in it with the FordPass™ phone application. If linked with SYNC Connect, you can check your fuel levels, remotely lock/unlock the doors and even start/stop your engine. Find parking, compare fuel prices and schedule service as needed all through this app. You also have access to trained Ford guides that can answer any question you may have about your Ford SUV.
SYNC Connect also uses a GPS response system that can sense if you’ve been in a collision and will contact help on your behalf.

Remember that even advanced technology cannot overcome the laws of physics. It’s always possible to lose control of a vehicle due to inappropriate driver input for the conditions.
